After making a major impact with her debut solo album ‘They Don’t Know’, New Yorker ANGELA JOHNSON returns with an equally strong second album ‘Got To Let It Go’, which Angela has once again written, arranged and produced.
A musical career that began at the State University of New York, where she studied as a violin major. It was there that four music students formed a band which evolved into Cooly’s Hot Box, who have since released two albums fronted by Angela’s vocals.
The new album sees Angela in more up-tempo, funky mood than on her more introspective, ballad-oriented debut. Several of the cuts, notably “Whatever It Takes”, “Where’s The Love” and “Early Bird”, with horns to the fore, have a distinctly UK jazz funk flavour, while the hypnotic groove of “All I Need”, the lead single, will fill plenty of dancefloors.
