Full Flava – Chinese Whispers

Full Flava is the brainchild of a group of three writers and musicians based in Birmingham. Their debut album “Chinese Whispers” featured as an upfront item on the Blues & Soul Hip List chart.

The line up of guest vocalists on the Full Flava album is a remarkable one. All but one of the five featured singers live in the Birmingham area – the exception is London-based Donna Gardier.  Donna recorded an acclaimed solo album for Virgin in the early Nineties and subsequently achieved prominence as the vocalist with UK band Raw Stylus. She contributes three tracks to the album including a superb update of the Stevie Wonder song “Betcha Wouldn’t Hurt Me”, (originally recorded by Patti Austin with Quincy Jones)

Best known of the singers is Ruby Turner, whose string of hit singles began in the early Eighties and includes a US R&B No 1 Hit with “It’s Gonna Be Alright”. Ruby, who contributes three songs on the album including the title track.
