Award-winning New York songwriter-artist GORDON CHAMBERS decided to begin recording as a vocalist himself after a decade of writing hits for the likes of Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Brownstone, Patti Labelle, Angie Stone and the Isley Brothers.

Gordon got his first songwriting assignment after interviewing Queen Latifah, and shortly afterwards, at a session for the late Phylis Hyman, he met producer Barry Eastmond, with whom he wrote the hit “I Apologize” for Anita Baker. Other hits followed such as “If You Love Me” for Brownstone and “No More Rain” for Angie Stone. In 2006 he received a Grammy nomination for his song “Family Reunion” sung by Chaka Khan, Carl Thomas and Gerald Levert.

His new album is unashamedly a collection of love stories “in the tradition of classic soul music of the Seventies but with a current feel”. Highlights include “To Love Again” with San Francisco soul star Ledisi, his own version of “If You Love Me”, the stand-out ballad “If It Wasn’t For Your Love” (previously recorded by US star Heather Headley, and much performed at weddings and anniversaries), and “Stay Together”, co-written by Eric Benet and originally recorded by the Temptations.
